Second Generation Website

While the club's original web site drew many accolades, it was decided in early 2009 to create a new website to replace the old. An informal subcommittee of members Tom Carr, Rob McKee and Patrick Schafli reviewed the current and possible future requirements of the club, and set out to build a new web site based on the Drupal content management framework, thus eliminating the need for any platform specific and potentially expensive web authoring software.

The "new" site endured until 2012, when the club acquired an additional domain in the form of www.vancouvertraingang.ca, and set to building a refreshed version of the site using a newer version of Drupal.

One of the highlights of the recent site was it's photo gallery and the ability to conveniently post announcements in the form of blog items for the edification of members and guests. Here are a few sample screen captures of the second generation website.

Of course, hosting a website does not come free, and mention should be made of our generous sponsor, Ontrack Hobbies, whose assistance has made it possible to keep the website "on the air" as it were, these several years.
